Innovative neighbourhood development – for vibrant urban spaces

We develop strategies, participation procedures and participatory processes for livable neighbourhoods

The challenge

“City for all”: both a demand and a challenge

Neighbourhoods have their own identities and offer independent identifications – they are the microcosm in the city cosmos. This is just as true for small towns as it is for metropolitan areas with millions of inhabitants, where small town-like neighbourhoods are strung together. At the same time, the pressure to move in is increasing in the urban agglomerations and in the metropolitan areas, the “fire accelerators” of gentrification and space shortages are causing problems and protest in many neighbourhoods.

A City for all with development potential, harmonious neighbourhoods – and without displacement pressure – is the demand of urban society and thus the challenge for urban policy, administration, real estate companies and project developers.

“Vibrant urban spaces and mixed-use neighbourhoods are crucial for the resilience and sustainability of the city.”

Our approach

Sustainable neighbourhood development

Neighbourhoods are either close and communal, anonymous or even divided. However, quality of life, diversity and a sense of “home” in neighbourhoods and urban spaces stand or fall with this. At the same time, nothing can be imposed on districts and neighbourhoods – and the willingness of residents to help shape them should not be underestimated.

We therefore see the key factors of successful neighbourhood and project development in participation and involvement – as well as in a strategic approach to the neighbourhood microcosm.

From our point of view, neighbourhood development is about strengthening the established identity, setting up new construction projects in a participatory manner from the idea to the move-in and involving as many participants and needs as possible.

What we can do for project developers, real estate companies and municipal companies:

We identify and analyze conflicts, interests, commonalities and resources in the neighbourhood.

We design participation procedures and processes for citizens – and take care of the implementation and evaluation on site.

Together with you and the residents, we develop strong joint strategies to strengthen neighbourhoods on their own: This means improving the quality of life for everyone – and implementing construction projects and urban development processes in a holistic, integrative and sustainable way.

We look at quarters over their entire lifespan: Our goal is to create or maintain livable neighbourhoods for residents and users.
